Running speed is determined by the combination of leg turnover rate and stride length. While most coaches can agree on what constitutes good running form it is often difficult for them to communicate proper mechanics for running to the athlete, especially the athlete in which running fast does not come naturally. Runners using PowerCranks experience the basic feel of proper running technique. PowerCranks help build the muscles and the muscle memory which is critical to getting to the next level of running fitness and form.
This is difficult to put into words. We think we have a pretty good video that explains this stuff. Please view our Running form/speed improvement from PowerCranks video for a clear introduction.
The increased strength and endurance that occurs in both the hip flexor and ham string muscles from consistent PowerCranks use allows for increased power on the ground and forward acceleration of the leg during recovery, without going anaerobic. This, in turn gains our athletes the desired increased leg turnover rate and/or stride length. Increased running speed and leg control for less overall effort (lack of "soreness" and improved recovery despite improved times is also frequently reported) is the natural end result.
