A few years ago I took up cycling to get back in shape. What started out as 5-10 mile rides became 50-75 mile rides. These days, I train for double centuries and brevets. Because I'm 6'9" and 225, I don't expect to finish ahead of riders who are younger stronger, and lighter, but I'm always trying to find ways to shave time of my rides.

When I'm not riding, I build software to help people who work with kids with autism. You can find my software at www.mobilethinking.com. You can email me if you want.

I was pleasantly surprised at my increased abiltiy to ride on PCs after amonth on fixed cranks. There were a couple small mechanicals that ate up some time today, so I didn't get as many miles in as I had hoped. I was trying for 60 miles and settlled to 45.

I decided to not try all the climbing that I did for the 200K, and am trying to focus on getting miles in because the AZ brevets don't have as much climbing as San Diego brevets do. The website says that there are stretches of 30 milles or so of complete flat road, so I'm trying to train for that kind of profile.

The ride today was 45 miles and 2000 ft, and the 300 brevet is 190 miles and 4000 feet. So hopefully a 60 or 80 mile ride on Wednesday will get me where I need to be.
