Dezmin Wilder
Everyone calls me Dez, I live and work in Sacramento, CA and I'm currently racing xc mountain bikes in the semi-pro class. I focus on the longer distance events such as 12 and 24 hour events and generally ride a single speed. I am turning 21 this year and have only been racing for two seasons, but I'm in love with cycling and hope to one day ride bikes for a living. I am currently racing for the Cannondale/ Sobe mountain bike team and I'm having a blast with it!

The SecondComing....
By Dezmin Wilder | Published  07/17/2008
Well, I've got them up and running once again. I took my first ride(for the second time) on power cranks a few days ago and have been meaning to post a report, but the Downieville Calssic sort of had me preoccupied this past weekend.

Better late than never though. I was thouroughly impressed with how decent I felt during my first ride on Power Cranks in 3 months. I had fully expected to be starting over again at square one and feel just as weak as I did last September when I started using Power Cranks for the first time. Imagine my suprise when my first 1/2 hr commute to work, though not easy, was completely managable and felt well within my capability. Nice! I'm very excited about how well my pedaling form has been maintained. pedaling evenly with both legs was probably the toughest thing for me when i started my training and I'm proud of how even my pedal stroke still is after such a long break from Power Cranks.

I plan to take things slowly this time around, using the PCs to build form more than anything. I'm living in an area with quite a lot of climbing and I could quite easily bury myself if I try to do too much too soon on the cranks. So, I''m starting with about an hour per day, 1/2 hr to and from work. This will be tacked on to my normal 4-7 hrs of riding per day.

I have been focusing heavily on seated climbing since i moved to this area a couple of months ago and i think that this focus has a large part to do with maintaining my form. I'm excited to be using PCs once again, I'm already feeling somewhat strong, so I can't wait to see what happens after a few steady weeks on PCs.

I'm putting a computer on my bike tomorrow and I now have a HR monitor, so I'll be putting more info in these blogs from now on. More soon.

thanks again Andrew!
