Ramping up for Club Nationals
By Erich Schultze | Published  07/11/2008

The last couple of weeks have been an opportunity for me to ramp up my training with more time to train in the summer. I now find myself riding Powercranks four times a week in addition to all my other training, and doing everything from seven-minute race-intensity efforts to long, steadier recovery rides. I have been on the water more this summer as well, working on my form and position in the boat..I now ride Powercranks just like I would a bike with regular cranks. I use them for warm-up and cool down, and can do low heart rate and intensity work on them as well. One of the major benefits my training has seen from Powercranks is balance in the muscles I don’t use as much for rowing. I developed imbalances over the past couple of years because of my super specific on water training, and I have added training that works other muscle groups to my on- water work. I have seen improvement in my balance as an athlete, and I attribute this to a steady regimen of stretching, resistance work, and Powercranks.

My training recently has been gearing up for USRowing Club National Championships in New Jersey. It is the target race of my summer, and I will be doing two events, the junior single and double. I have been ramping up the past couple of weeks and am excited about racing a very strong field. I plan on using the Powercranks bike for warm-up and cool down throughout the three day long race.
