Bobby Escay
I am 35 years old and live in Sacramento, California. This is my first year Road Racing and currently ride for Team City as a CAT 4. I love long and hilly rides. I plan on completing the 2008 Death Ride, which is 129 miles with over 15,000 feet of climbing at elevations as high as 8730 feet, using my Powercranks. I may also attempt some of my races on PC's just for fun!?! Can you tell I love a challenge?

In love with my Powercranks
By Bobby Escay | Published  05/17/2008
I can still remember that sweet, beautiful feeling.  The natural smooth pedaling, the perfect timing, the feeling of one and the perfect connection between me and my bike through my Powercranks.  It was like finally finding true love, knowing it does exist and not just in the movies.  I know I'm getting carried away here. :)  My point is I worked hard and got to a place which at first seemed unattainable and impossible... my Powercranks felt like I was on regular cranks.  I didn't have to think about the pedaling action anymore and it felt so good.  It's more than just training on them to get stronger and faster.  It's the great feeling of accomplishment you feel from finally achieving what you set out to do.   It's being stubborn and determined enough to get through the adaptation and frustrations of adjusting to these strange and foreign cranks.  In 5 weeks, I went from feeling like a complete mess to riding a 75 mile ride with 7000  feet of climbing on my Powercranks.  My first week was very challenging and it felt as if I would never be able to ride these crazy things on the rides I love the most, long and hilly.  I just kept telling myself to keep trying and my body would eventually adapt.  Hey, if the guy in the Powercranks video can do it and make it look so easy than so can I, was my attitude.  Every few days there would be some sort of progress and sometimes it would come after some setbacks due to tired and shot muscles.  Eventually, I was able to use them for longer periods of time and my goal of being able to use them on my regular long and hilly rides was once again a reality.  I soon attempted one of my regular rides, a 75 mile loop with 7000 feet of climbing.  I successfully completed the ride and it felt so good, especially when just a few weeks ago this kind of ride on Powercranks seemed like an impossible feat.  I was not alone.  My cousin who was on Powercranks exclusively for just a couple of days longer than me completed the same ride using Powercranks so this was no freak accident.  Within a couple more weeks, I might as well have been riding regular cranks because I no longer felt like I was using independently working crank arms.  I felt smooth and connected.  Everything just flowed.  I might as well just admit it... I'm in love with my Powercranks!
