Dezmin Wilder

Everyone calls me Dez, I live and work in Sacramento, CA and I'm currently racing xc mountain bikes in the semi-pro class. I focus on the longer distance events such as 12 and 24 hour events and generally ride a single speed. I am turning 21 this year and have only been racing for two seasons, but I'm in love with cycling and hope to one day ride bikes for a living. I am currently racing for the Cannondale/Bear Naked mountain bike team and I'm having a blast with it!

waiting....
I anxiously await the arival of my new Power Cranks.... I can't wait to get training on them once again.
I've been riding my new geared mtn bike a bit lately and I can definitly see how training on PCs is going to carry over extremely well to geared off road riding. Having the capability to stay seated and utilize my entire pedal stroke will be incredibly advantageous while riding the new bike. It's a full suspension, so the most efficient pedaling style is seated and my years of riding a Single Speed have made me pretty pathetic when it comes to staying in the saddle and motoring up climbs.
Trying to ride the new bike in the same way as my SS is pretty inefficient though, so i've been working on staying seated and shifting to the correct gear when my immediate response to a climb is to simply stand up. PCs are going to give me a huge edge and really fast track my efforts to become a better seated climber.
I'm going to order another road frame and build it up around the PCs so that I can have a dedicated heavy training bike and a nice light bike for recovery days, should work out pretty well i hope.
So now I'm just watching the mail box, waiting for the arrival of my secret training weapon. Not sure if i'm racing this weekend, I've got a 12 hr event next weekend and the race this weekend is quite a drive, it's short too, so i know i'll get my butt kicked, i'm wondering if it'd be wiser to save my pennines and energy for an event that i actually stand a chance at winning...
