Everyone calls me Dez, I live and work in Sacramento, CA and I'm currently racing xc mountain bikes in the semi-pro class. I focus on the longer distance events such as 12 and 24 hour events and generally ride a single speed. I am turning 21 this year and have only been racing for two seasons, but I'm in love with cycling and hope to one day ride bikes for a living. I am currently racing for the Cannondale/Bear Naked mountain bike team and I'm having a blast with it!

Success!

My 24 hr race went swimmingly. I won overall with more laps than any other solo racer, geared or singlespeed... and I was riding a singlespeed. I'm very suprised and thouroughly excited by how decent I felt throughout the race.

I am sure that my training with PCs had a larger impact on my performance than I can truly understand and I certainly hope that I can get myself back on PCs sometime soon. Still no word on my stolen bike so it looks like I'll just have to save up and buy another set.

It's tough to save at this time of year since every penny I make is already spent on a race entry fee, or a travel cost involved in getting to a race and it's tough to justify skipping races to work more in order to buy a training tool which will make me a better racer.... since theoretically, going to the race and not working could make me a faster racer too.

It's tricky. I'm very excited with this weekend's result and I hope that I can cary my momentum into my upcoming 12 hr event two weeks from now. I'll be racing a geared bike for the first time at a serious event and I had hoped to build up on PCs to really smooth out my pedal stroke and make me super efficient once more....but oh well. Guess I'll make do.
