Hi, I am a level 2 USAC coach who has ridden now for six years. I first started riding to have a common hobby with my brother when I would visit him in California. I have usually been more athletic than him in most regards, but cycling has brought new challenges into the picture as it requires different abilities than most high profile sports. I decided to buy a pair of powercranks to try to train smarter and more efficiently so I can keep up with him on the hills....

Day 1
Alright, the anxiously awaited Powercranks (PCs) have arrived! I have what is the Model 5 version and has the lockout feature. My main motivation for getting the lockout version rather than going “all-in” with the basic ones is that I coach a local collegiate team in the Boston area and I need to ride with my athletes when I can. You can say that I set the bar rather low on my abilities by not going “all-in”, and I couldn’t agree more. After reading several reviews about PCs from numerous folks who are likely better, stronger riders than me, I decided that I would be patient and log in the time slowly and consistently.
So, after opening the box, everything looks good, and I began to read the instruction manual. I can’t say that the manual was a great read as there were typos, the font was small, and it was a bit long. I’m a thorough person, though and got through the whole thing before hitting the hay. Yes, this means that I did not get to install them that day.
