Off road benefits with PowerCranks
By Peter Bech | Published  01/15/2008

My first race since switching to powercranks was a mountainbike event held in very muddy conditions last weekend. My mountainbike is equiped with regular cranks (I wouldn´t  recommend riding powercranks off road. I haven´t tried it, but I don´t think it will be pretty!) so I had to imagine that I was in PC mode. I tried to tell myself to not just push, but also pull. I realised that when I was aware of using my hip flexors in the pull phase the speed rose significantly. And the best thing about it: I was able to do it throughout the entire 1h30´ the event lasted.

Actually the best thing was that I won, but I´m still a fair bit from the level I want to be at when the racing gets serious in the beginning of april. There are still lots of PC-rides to be explored. Maybe I´ll challenge myself one day and go off road......
