Soon I´m a real cyclist...
Yesterday I almost felt like a "real" cyclist... I went for a few laps on the local TT-course of 11 miles and only had to stop pedalling through corners and the one time I was stupid enough to stand up and power up the only hill - it completely drained me for energy and I had to coast for half a minute - good on Ya, Superman.
I went from being a survivor, with only one selected gearing (aka 75-80 rpm´s), to being able to shift gears, cadence and differentiate the pressure on the pedals. So I´m no longer just a, painful, passenger on the PowerCranks ride, but I can actually attempt to try and time trial the course in a few days, which will of course just be a different suffer feast...
Just riding the darn things, still takes a lot of attention though, as I´m hard pressed to keep pedalling when I reach for my water bottles...
I´m going to Tucson, AZ for an 8 week period, in January and February, and hopefully I´ll be a little more relaxed, enduring and elegant. As if riding the Saturday Shootout isn´t hard enough by itself, I can´t see myself positioning in the middle of the pack, surging and jumping potholes...
I hope to see some fellow PowerCrankers over there and hopefully get to ride with you. If you have any experience in riding PowerCranks on the grouprides there, please let me know. My mail address is claus@giv.dk.
Take care, Claus Bech
