Dezmin Wilder
Everyone calls me Dez, I live and work in Sacramento, CA and I'm currently racing xc mountain bikes in the semi-pro class. I focus on the longer distance events such as 12 and 24 hour events and generally ride a single speed. I am turning 21 this year and have only been racing for two seasons, but I'm in love with cycling and hope to one day ride bikes for a living. I am currently racing for the Cannondale/Bear Naked mountain bike team and I'm having a blast with it!

I'm still here
By Dezmin Wilder | Published  11/28/2007

It's been quite a while since my last update, but I'm still here, plugging away on my beloved Powercranks. I've been sick the past few days and I'm super bummed out because it seems like as soon as I begin to feel strong on the Powercranks, I get sick and have to take a few days off and a few steps back in my training on the cranks. This same thing happened about a month ago, though to be honest, I don't think I put in the proper recovery time after that sickness because I never felt quite myself this past month on the bike.

So, this time around I'm trying very hard to actually recover from my illness properly so that I can get to feeling good again on the bike. It's hard enough to find motivation to train in the winter when you feel good, and nearly impossible when you feel crappy.

So I supppose I'll keep you updated on how I feel in the next few days, it's been nearly a week since I've been out on the Powercranks, and I was feeling pretty darn good on them the last time out. I plan to ride them tomorrow.

I feel as though my body has adapted to the initial increase in my performance, it no longer feels as though I'm going any faster on my regular bike, it's only when I ride with others or embark along training routes that I know very well that I realize I'm moving more quickly than I was two months ago. I think that's a good thing, it means that I'm becoming used to moving at a faster average speed, and this new speed is beginning to feel natural and sustainable. good stuff.

We'll see how I feel tomorrow...
