A strange mix of searching on the internet for articles on running economy and a visit to Chuckie V´s blog, Powercranks were widely mentioned and appraised as a potential performance enhancer.
Reading a lot of positive reviews I decided to try them out, despite it means a temporary goodbye to using the SRM Powermeter (Andrew from Powercranks actually offered to make some modifications to the SRM to fit the Powercranks).
Using the Powercranks with Ergomo, Powertap, Polar or other powermeters would work, but the SRM system is integrated in the crank arms, and I don´t wanna mess with rocket science, being a technofob...
Being an agegroup triathlete myself and helping a few guys (roadies, MTB´ers and triathletes) with training advice I´m hoping to discover a beneficial training tool.
I would have liked to do a thorough physiological testing protocol on the bike and run, but I´ll have to assess the improvements from subjective measures, wattage test, treadmil tests and personal bests on selected distances and hopefully be able to recommend this training tool to my athletes.
After reading all the positive reviews, I can tell that I´m already a bit biased to the positive side and expect a lot from this training tool, but I hope to be able to be objective in my evaluation of the use of Powercranks in the next few months.
