Dezmin Wilder
Everyone calls me Dez, I live and work in Sacramento, CA and I'm currently racing xc mountain bikes in the semi-pro class. I focus on the longer distance events such as 12 and 24 hour events and generally ride a single speed. I am turning 21 this year and have only been racing for two seasons, but I'm in love with cycling and hope to one day ride bikes for a living. I am currently racing for the Cannondale/ Sobe mountain bike team and I'm having a blast with it!

...day two and beyond

"the record for getting to a 100 mile ride on Power Cranks is the third day, see if you can beat it =)"
These words appeared on my screen as i sat at my laptop at home, beat down  from my first day of riding on Power Cranks. But what could I do? Tomorrow was to be my second day on the new cranks, and if i didn't complete a 100 mile ride then, then i would never be able to challenge the record.

so what did i do? well what choice did i really have? I set out on my second day on Power Cranks wit every intention of completing a 100 mile ride. I even put a computor on my bike, which i never use, so that i could be entirely legitimate. my ride time was nearly six hours, total time was a helluva lot more, i was ready to give up at mile 50, but my room mate told me to stop being a wussy and i pressed on to just over 101 miles by night fall.

it was the most challenging day of riding i've had in quite some time.

it's been a loooong time since i've had my legs nearly give out on me, especially on a 100 mile fairly flat ride. Power Cranks are sooo humbling.

the morning after my 100 mile adventure, i decided to drive to work rather than ride. i rode the Power Cranks for about a half hour after work and proceeded to go for a single speed mountain bike night ride immediately afterward. i was feeling suprisingly decent until the one hour mark when my body just shut down on me. the previous day's venture had proved to be far more taxing on my system than i realized.

today was my best day yet. i found that my cadence improved pretty notably. suprise, suprise.  i rode for about four hours total today, an hour before work and 3 hours after, midway through the agter work ride i was feeling super good, my cadence was respectable  and my pedal stroke was even. it was great.

things fell off a bit towards the end, but the progress i'm making is definitely motivating me to keep on getting on the Power Cranks day after day even though i hurt in ways i've never hurt before. oddly enough, my hip flexors aren't really bothering me too much, the insides of my thighs kill from top to bottom though!

I freakin love this stuff!!!!! more soon
