Time Trial . Crit Ride
By greg mcglinn | Published  12/29/2006
I decided to go out and do a time trial after having taken a couple of days off from riding the Power Cranks To have a guage of my fitness after 3 months of just riding on my power cranks.I did a 3 mile flat TT in 6:40 on my TT bike with regular cranks,I hope to improve on that time .The following Day I went out and was planning on riding by myself for and hour1/2 and then meet the group of people that we do our crit training ride with and do another hour1/2 of sprint and jump intervals. The first part of my ride I was concentrating on high cadence in smaller gears and what I am discovering is the easier you try to ride or spin with these cranks the harder the workout becomes at least for me at this point .I was having a much easier time riding with the group as long as I didnt go to the front and attack or go for the sprint but when I did go for one of the sprints and won it I looked at my heart rate and it was at 203 I have not seen the 200s for at least 2 years .I think if I can learn to recover from riding these that as hard as they make you work and how fast your heart rate elevates ,Also the cadence you have to maintain to keep one leg up with the other is so high I dont see how you wont become stronger and more efficient on your regular bicycle Thanks for reading Greg.
