12Weeks of PowerCranking in Italy
By Alessandro Passi | Published  02/1/2007
After one week unsuccessful experiment last year, I decided to try again the PC last november with more determination. I decided to focus only in time and cadence, tryng to improve both ride after ride.So ..first week 20 to30km rides (45min to 1hr)at low cadence 65-70rpm tryng not to force too much. After10 days I was able to complet my first 2hrs ride with some stretches over 80rpm. I have found very productive to insert one week indoor every 2 weeks focusing on high cadence drills(i.e. spin ups)this drills are putting the hip flexors on fire!! (could barely lift my legs after) the spin ups are very hard with the PC but worth the pain..in the 3rd week I complited 2.5hrs ride above 80rpm average!! That gave me the energy and motivation I needed.Every week I still ride one day with regular cranks and feel like flyng but always keeping the same pedalstroke as I do with PC Last sunday the best ride ever 4hrs @ 86rpm average! Yesterday on my SRM test I pushed the pedals 70w more on threshold and 115rpm compare to the test I did in october obviously heartrate was lower (no threshod practice since) trnslated in numbers 450w vs 380w 115rpm vs 101rpm...can't wait to start racing season!!
