We welcome the English Rugby Football Union team to the PowerCranks stable. The defending Rugby World Cup champions were only ranked 7th and essentially unable to win a game on the road when the team got 6 PowerCranks equipped Revmasters in July to be their "stealth training tool" to help them in their preparation for the 2007 edition Rugby World Cup in France in October. The team had been performing so poorly they were not expected to get out of the first round in the 2007 World Cup competition by many. Anyhow, things finally came together and the team made it to the finals, although they lost to South Africa. No team has ever repeated as Rugby World Cup Champions. We hope we contributed some to their late impovement. Congratulations to them for a fine tournament.
We welcome the University of Tennessee Volunteers to the PowerCranks stable of major American football powers now using the cranks for performance enhancement and/or rehab. Check out the interview with two of their strength coaches about their initial experience and how they intend to use them.

Our featured interview
As we get more and more video interviews we will feature one here and regularly rotate them. Featured this time is Ken Mejica, who records his 3 month experience with the PowerCranks. He reports he almost "gave up cycling because of them" but persisted and has seen about a 25 watt cycling gain plus the greatest running improvement ever reported to us in this time frame, from a 10 to a 7 minute mile pace for a 10 mile run. dialup. Other new interviews include Jason Powers, Brian Choi, Scott Vincent, and Robin Goldfoos. Check out all of our videos here.
But wait, there is more :-)
I know, sounds like an infomercial. So, although we are a little embarassed to make this claim, adding another "outlandish claim" to to a product that already seems to good to be true, but it seems to be real and, it turns out, there is a good physiological reason for it to be so. And, if we didn't tell you about it you wouldn't know about it if you needed it.
Yes, we have had several reports from users that PowerCranks seem to improve erectile functioning in those with a certain form of erectile dysfunction (ED). Studies have clearly shown that ED occurs less often in people who exercise than in the sedentary. (article1article2) Now it look like if you exercise with PowerCranks you can reverse at least some forms of ED that are already present. If you would like a medical explanation as to how this could be true click here
One product can do what?
Can't believe one product can improve cycling speed, improve running speed, prevent injury in all kinds of athletes, train most of the core muscles, ensure right/left and fore/aft muscle balance, and even improve rehab the injured? Well, PowerCranks can do all that, and more. While we have detailed explanations available from some of the pull-down menus above or any of our many videos, the best "first introduction" is probably our Introduction to PowerCranks high quality Quicktime video. Also, for you cyclists, watch our "Why we pedal as we do" video (dial-up) to see why it is so hard to change things now that you are an adult
What do elites and pros report?
Check out these video interviews: John Wiggins sees 100 watt increase in Belgian National Track team members in 6 months. Ironman Champion Tom Evans improves about 15 minutes in marathon and 30 minutes in IM bike split. Xterra World Champion Conrad Stoltz talks about his PowerCranks experience. Sprinter Aaron Thigpen talks about running and how PowerCranks helped him to overcome injury and run a record 10.34s 100m at the age of 38.
Check out how Steve Larsen was able to have the fastest bike split of the day at the Ironman California 70.3, despite what would have to be described as a minimalist approach to his training. He averaged about 1 hour a day on the bike for the 6 weeks prior to the race. Read his report here. Note that all his bike training time was done on PowerCranks. The efficient way to train. The efficient way to pedal.

Preparing for the Olympic trials?
Chris Zieman is a marathoner who has qualified for the US Olympic trials for the marathon. He got on PowerCranks in mid August, about 10 weeks before the Olympic marathon trials, in order to allow him to keep his mileage at a healthy level but still increase his intensity without injury. He kept a blog of his experience. Check out the saga. Things do not always go smoothly for an elite athlete but he seemed very happy with the result.
Looking for something special!!!
We are experimenting with a new manufacturing method for one of the parts. We would like some guinea pigs to try them out to let us know how they work and so we can ensure they are reliable. From your perspective they should be identica to our normal cranks. If you would be interested in trying one of these out we will give you $200 off the normal price, if we have what you want available in this new configuration (we will not have these available in Lock-out mode - regular PC mode only). Call us (925-944-1094) if you are interested. Or, the other alternative, if you are in some "strange" time zone from California, email us at specialdeal@powercranks.com. Happy Crankin'.
What are PowerCranks?
Many people hear the name PowerCranks and think they must measure power. PowerCranks do not measure power. They are simply independent bicycle cranks. Training with this simple change results in substantially more power and speed for both running and cycling, hence the name. PowerCranks:
teach proper cycling technique
teach good running technique
train all the muscles necessary for good cyling and running technique.
train and balance all lower half muscles including the core, improving performance while reducing risk of injury
Improve lower extremity coordination improving performance while reducing risk of injury
and it is all non-impact, allowing increased intensity of workouts while reducing risk of injury in the healthy and allowing most injured athletes to continue to exercise
training more muscles results in a higher VO2 max (improving performance) and makes it easier for the fitness enthusiast to lose weight by increasing basal metabolic rate.
These changes also make athletes more resistant to injury and, if you are currently injured, they will help you to recover faster and make you less prone to reinjury. To help you better understand this product we invite you to start with the General Introduction video for a general overview and then move on to other videos or pages that will, hopefully, address your specific needs.
